Nest preparation
The couple occupies more and more frequently the nest: the laying approaches! (04/04)
A new location...
Alas, for this season 2019, the 'Falcons of Theding' will not be present in front of our cameras. They chose a new location: an old crow's nest placed in a mistletoe ball, on a large tree located 50 meters from the connected nest box. Can not be filmed with a webcam. 3 eggs were discovered on 13/04 ; There will be 5 in total. The date of laying is estimated on 08/04.
A new couple?
These recent days, a male visits the connected nest box, and since 17/04, a female accompanies him. Will this second couple settle in?
Dispute from the nest
The first couple nesting 50 meters away, in the crow's nest, does not allow the second couple to settle so near by . Unfortunately, no couple will nestle in front of our cameras. (17/04)
3 offsprings for the first couple.
Of the 5 eggs laid by the 1st pair (crow's nest): 2 falcons were found dead at the foot of the tree; but 3 youngsters will take flight around the 14/06.
5 offsprings for the second couple.
Surprisingly, the second couple who visited the connected nest box finally settled 150 meters away in a cavity of the house. The couple raised 5 offsprings. The nest being narrow, one of the young fell out. The impossibility of re-installing him in the nest led him to be taken to a specialised care center (GORNA Alsace) where he grew up before being released.(16/06)
Visitors
The absence of hawks benefit others! Tits, red-tails, starlings and pigeons greeted us on camera! (14/05)
Pigeons and hawks
Pigeons have lingered longer than others. However, hawks continued to protect their nest box. So the pigeons did not have a quiet life and could not nest there. Is this a hope for the return of hawks in2020? (19/07)
